His serene manners and his way of speaking, always thoughtful and kind, made him respected all over the region.<\/span><\/p>\n People said that Long Ching, in his youth, was initiated in the mysteries of ancient wisdom. And it is true that his neighbors as well as his only son who lived with him, admired his great lucidity and temperance. <\/span><\/p>\n One day Kariel\u00b4s townspeople found him very sad. During the last storm, his mares had escaped from his corrals to the mountains, leaving the poo old man without his livelihood.\u00a0 <\/span>Because of this, the townspeople were troubled and continuously visited his honorable house:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat a disgrace!\u00a0 <\/span>Poor Long Ching! They said to him.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cDamn the storm that fell on his house! What bad luck your life has brought you. \u00a0 <\/span>Your house and goods are lost.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Long Ching, amiable, serene and attentive, merely said over and over again:<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ text_font=”Playfair Display||on||” text_font_size=”20px” background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”3″ _address=”0.1.0.3″]<\/p>\n Perhaps, perhaps…<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”4″ _address=”0.1.0.4″]<\/p>\n A little while later, the first winds of winter appeared bringing freezing cold to the region. And Oh what a surprise, Long Chin\u00b4s mares returned to the warmth of their old stables, but this time they were pregnant and the wild horses they found in the mountains came with them. <\/span><\/p>\n With their arrival, Long Chins herd grew unexpectedly.<\/span><\/p>\n When the townspeople heard this, they were very happy for the old man\u00b4s good luck and one by one, they went to his home to congratulate him for his good fortune.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat good luck you have old man, Bless the yeguas\u2026 for running away and then increasing your herd.\u00a0 <\/span>Life is generous with you, Long Ching\u201d.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n To which the old sage merely answered again and again: <\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ text_font=”Playfair Display||on||” text_font_size=”20px” background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”5″ _address=”0.1.0.5″]<\/p>\n Perhaps, perhaps…<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”6″ _address=”0.1.0.6″]<\/p>\n A short time later, the new horses were domesticated by Long Ching\u00b4s son, who, from dawn to sunset trained his animals for new tasks. It could be said that prosperity and happiness reined in their home.<\/span><\/p>\n One morning like any other, it happened that one of the horses threw off Long Chin\u00b4s young son with the bad fortune that his legs and arms and even some ribs were broken by the tremendous fall.\u00a0 <\/span>The result was that the only son of the old man was incapacitated for a long time and could not do his daily jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n The townspeople were consternated by this sad news and everyone went to his home saying to the old man:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHow terrible you must feel Long Ching\u201d they said sadly. \u201cWhat bad luck, your only son! Damn the horses that brought bad luck to your home.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The old man listed serenely and merely responded again and again:<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ text_font=”Playfair Display||on||” text_font_size=”20px” background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”7″ _address=”0.1.0.7″]<\/p>\n Perhaps, perhaps…<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Texto” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” _i=”8″ _address=”0.1.0.8″]<\/p>\n In time, the heat of the summer passed and when the first breezes of autumn were felt, high tension with the neighboring country exploded in armed conflict.\u00a0 <\/span>War was declared and all available youths were enlisted for that dark adventure.<\/span><\/p>\n Soon after the news was heard, a group of government emissaries came to Kariel to enlist all available youths in the county.\u00a0 <\/span>When they got to Long Ching\u00b4s house and saw his son, they continued on their way and forgot the boy who looked like he would take a long time to mend. <\/span><\/p>\n The townspeople of Kariel were happy to know that Lon Ching\u00b4s son would stay home.\u00a0 <\/span>And so, once again, one by one they visited the old man to exclaim on the good luck that had touched the old man with its Wing. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cGood luck has come into your life Long Ching,\u201d they said. \u201cBlessed be the fall for it is saving your son\u00b4s life, keeping him at your side during the uncertainty and anguish of the war. Sus modales serenos y su palabra siempre cuidadosa y amable, hacen de \u00e9l un hombre respetado en toda la comarca. <\/span><\/p> Las gentes afirman que Long Ching, en su juventud, fue iniciado en los misterios de la antigua sabidur\u00eda. Y en realidad, tanto sus vecinos como su \u00fanico hijo que con \u00e9l vive, admiran su gran lucidez y templanza. <\/span><\/p> Aquel d\u00eda, los vecinos de Kariel se encontraban muy apenados. Durante la pasada tormenta, las yeguas de Long Ching hab\u00eda salido de sus corrales y escapado a las monta\u00f1as, dejando al pobre anciano sin los medios habituales de subsistencia. Ante tal hecho, el pueblo sent\u00eda una gran consternaci\u00f3n por lo que sus habitantes no dejaban de desfilar por su honorable casa: <\/span><\/p> \"\u00a1Qu\u00e9 desgracia!\" \"\u00a1Pobre Long Ching!\" le dec\u00edan sus vecinos, \"\u00a1Maldita tormenta cay\u00f3 sobre tu casa!\" \"\u00a1Qu\u00e9 mala suerte ha pasado por tu vida!\" \"\u00a1Tu casa y tu hacienda est\u00e1 perdida...!\"<\/span><\/p> Long Ching, amable, sereno y atento, tan s\u00f3lo dec\u00eda una y otra vez: <\/span><\/p> Puede ser, puede ser... <\/b><\/span><\/p> Al poco, el invierno comenz\u00f3 a asomar sus primeros vientos trayendo un fuerte fr\u00edo a la regi\u00f3n, y \u00a1Oh sorpresa! Sucedi\u00f3 que las yeguas de Long Ching retornaron al calor de sus antiguos establos, pero en esta ocasi\u00f3n, lo hicieron pre\u00f1adas y acompa\u00f1adas de caballos salvajes encontrados en las monta\u00f1as. <\/span><\/p> Con esta llegada, el ganado de Long Ching se vio incrementado de manera inesperada. <\/span><\/p> El pueblo, al enterarse de tal acontecimiento, sinti\u00f3 un gran regocijo por la buena suerte del anciano, de tal forma que, uno a uno, fueron desfilando por su casa, para felicitarlo por tal bonanza. <\/span><\/p> \"\u00a1Qu\u00e9 buena suerte tienes anciano!\" \u00a1\u201dBenditas sean las yeguas que escaparon y m\u00e1s tarde aumentaron tu manada\u201d! \u00a1\u201dLa vida es generosa contigo Long Ching...\u201d! <\/span><\/p> A lo que el sabio anciano tan s\u00f3lo contestaba una y otra vez: <\/span><\/p> Puede ser, puede ser. <\/b><\/span><\/p> Pasado un corto tiempo, los nuevos caballos fueron domesticados por el hijo de Long Ching que, desde el amanecer hasta la puesta del sol, no dejaba de preparar a sus animales para las nuevas faenas. Podr\u00eda decirse que la prosperidad y la alegr\u00eda reinaban en aquella casa. <\/span><\/p> Una ma\u00f1ana como cualquier otra, sucedi\u00f3 que uno de los caballos derrib\u00f3 al joven hijo de Long Ching con tan mala fortuna que sus piernas y brazos e incluso algunas costillas, se fracturaron en la tremenda ca\u00edda. Como consecuencia, el \u00fanico hijo del anciano quedaba impedido durante un largo tiempo para la faena diaria. <\/span><\/p> El pueblo qued\u00f3 consternado por esta triste noticia por lo que todos los vecinos fueron pasando por su casa, mientras dec\u00edan al anciano: <\/span><\/p> \u00a1\u201dQu\u00e9 desgraciado debes sentirte Long Ching!\" le dec\u00edan apesadumbrados. \u00a1\u201dQu\u00e9 mala suerte, tu \u00fanico hijo\u201d! \u00a1\u201dMalditos caballos que han tra\u00eddo la desgracia a tu casa\u201d! <\/span><\/p> El anciano escuchaba sereno y tan s\u00f3lo respond\u00eda una y otra vez: <\/span><\/p> Puede ser, puede ser... <\/b><\/span><\/p> Con el tiempo, el verano caluroso fue pasando y cuando se divisaban las primeras brisas del oto\u00f1o, una fuerte tensi\u00f3n pol\u00edtica con el pa\u00eds vecino estall\u00f3 en un conflicto armado. La guerra hab\u00eda sido declarada en la naci\u00f3n y todos los j\u00f3venes disponibles eran enrolados en aquella negra aventura. <\/span><\/p> Al poco de conocerse la noticia, se present\u00f3 en el poblado de Kariel un grupo de emisarios gubernamentales con la misi\u00f3n de alistar para la batalla a todos los j\u00f3venes disponibles de la comarca. Al llegar a la casa de Long Ching y comprobar la lesi\u00f3n de su hijo, siguieron su camino y se olvidaron del muchacho que ten\u00eda todos los s\u00edntomas de tardar en recuperarse durante una larga temporada. <\/span><\/p> Los vecinos de Kariel sintieron una gran alegr\u00eda cuando supieron de la permanencia en el poblado del joven hijo de Long Ching.
